Centricity EMR & the Virtual Medical Community

For years, the health care industry has been announcing the arrival of Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology for the physician office.  In the past, either the technology, the market motivators and/or the cost have been obstacles to wide-scale adoption of EHRs.  However, recent developments, both locally and nationally, have finally aligned great products, incentives and much lower costs to provide the "tipping point" for your move to an EHR.

Virtual Medical Community

Created three years ago, the EHR Advantage program offers Centricity to area physician practices through an Application Service Provider (ASP) model.  Physicians and staff use Centricity in their daily practices, but outsource the back-end maintenance and support of the EHR to our professional staff.  By using a shared Centricity platform with other area providers, clinical data can flow from primary to specialty to hospital care in a coordinated system.  Today, over 130 physicians and 900 users trust PHC's EHR Advantage program to deliver leading technology to their patients.

Costs

Practices can take advantage of economies of scale by sharing infrastructure and staff costs.  In October of 2006, the federal government created an exception to the Stark Law that allows EHR software and services to be offered at a reduced fee to encourage EHR adoption.  ProHealth Care responded to this opportunity by significantly lowering our monthly access fee and our implementation fee for the EHR Advantage program.
