Richard Wnuk, a Delafield stone mason, was working on a fireplace for a friend when he started having pain under his arms. He also noticed being out of breath while snowblowing his driveway. But he continued to work through the pain, which came and went for about a week or so. But when Richard's son-in-law, a former Delafield fireman, was visiting and noticed that Richard was tired and sweating, they called 911 and he was taken to Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
"When I got to the hospital, those people were Johnny-onthe-spot," Richard recalls. The doctor told his team, "I want him ready to operate in 5 minutes."
Richard went from the emergency department to the cath lab, where cardiologist David Cullinane, MD and the cath lab team performed coronary angioplasty and placed a stent in his right coronary artery to improve blood flow.
"I didn't realize that they had the capabilities to do that in Oconomowoc," says Richard. "I'd tell anyone to go there. No doubt in my mind."
