National Screening for PVD Leg Pain

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) affects an estimated 8-10 million people in the United States.  Caused by decreased blood flow in the leg arteries, PVD is associated with a high risk for heart attack and stroke.  PVD is common among individuals 50 years and older, smokers and
people diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Symptoms include:

  • leg pain
  • difficulty walking
  • slow-healing infection or sores on feet
  • coldness, tingling or numbness in the feet or legs
  • skin discoloration
